exporting a 24 bit file to 16 bit wav

Help for Audacity on macOS.

exporting a 24 bit file to 16 bit wav

If I open a 24 bit file in audacity and export it as a 16 bit wav file. Does that mean it will no longer be wet bits? That it will actually be a 16 bit wav file?

typo correction - I am correcting my own typo from my earlier post

If I open a 24 bit file in audacity and export it as a 16 bit wav file. Does that mean it will no longer will be 24 bits? That it will actually be a 16 bit wav file?

Yes. The dynamic range of the new file will be 16-bit. The same as digital television and audio CDs.
