Audacity 2.1.1: Importing and exporting FLAC files

Post by Chardonnay » Wed Jul 22, 2015 10:27 am

The ‚2.1.1 Release Notes‘ state: ‚(Mac OS X) Importing and Exporting FLAC files is slower than in Audacity 2.1.0.’ Unfortunately, this is true. Import and export of FLAC files is now much slower. I just cannot understand why. As I work regularly with FLAC, this is really annoying.

OS X 10.10.4
(On my second machine with Windows 7 SP1 everything is fine.)

Do you agree that only short files of a few minutes' length are noticeably affected? The developer who tested it was using files of an hour or more and did not see a noticeable slow down.

Yes!
The import and export of 'short' FLAC files (a few minutes' length) is now significantly slower! I guess that has nothing to do with the new FLAC 1.3.1 implementation!
