recording internal music on Mac

On my MacBook Pro I play musical pieces that I compose on Sibelius, and then convert to .mpgs, sing to them using iTunes. I need a way to record high quality music that I create in Sibelius. I have been playing them on Sibelius and simultaneously recording them with Wiretap Studio, but Wiretap no longer upgrades for Mac. Wiretap had an input option "Mac Audio" that no longer works. In other words, the source is not the Mac internal mike nor a line input, but the sound produced by the computer. Can I record that way on Audacity, with music quality, and then play it on iTunes?

Thanks,

Tom in Texas

The Soundflower software can give you self-recording.

Ok...downloaded Soundflower. Please tell me what setting to use in Audacity. I can't get any response when recording.

It is required that you surgically follow the process in the wiki page. Soundflower makes special recursive sound pathways on a Mac and trying to use it without the wiki will make your head hurt.

Ok, this is way too many steps, considering how much I record, and how often I switch from recording back to regular Mac usage. Wiretap Studio has a Record button and that's about it. It made fabulous, lossless recordings. That's what I'm looking for. How do I uninstall Audacity and Soundflower? Thanks for your help.

Go > Applications > Drag the Audacity application folder to the trash. You may need to drag the Soundflower software to the trash, too.

If the problem was not hearing sound in other apps after changing the system output device to Soundflower, the answer is to run Soundflowerbed, or use Sound Siphon, which avoids running a second application to hear sound. See http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 86#p264486.

To uninstall Soundflower properly, use the uninstaller script. See https://cycling74.com/forums/topic/how- ... undflower/.
