How do I use an MBox 1 to record into Audacity?

We are a public high school Music Technology class. The only interface we own for our microphones is an MBox 1. We are using the most current version of Audacity and our MacBook is running OS 10.7.5. When I connect the MBox and start Audacity it recognizes the device. I select the MBox for input, connected our mic and hit record but I get the following messages:
"Internal audio port error"
"Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."
I have tried all sample rates below 48kHz (which is what the MBox supports. Any help would be greatly appreciated so my class could start recording!
