Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
I'll try those variations.
I'm typing on my "TV Set" which is a Mini running OS-X 10.6.8 and Audacity 2.0.3,
The busted screen MacBook Pro is running OS-X 10.5.8 and Audacity 2.0.3. That's my telephone recorder.
As we go.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
We must be getting closer and closer to the problem. I'm having a harder and harder time making it fail.
New for Tuesday:
I can't get the game sound to fail on the Mavericks MBP. After multiple tries, I put 2.0.5 back and the second time I mounted the music and played it, it was completely destroyed — digital garbage for the first two seconds, straightened up briefly and then died again.
Next pass is clean as are the others as far as I got.
Sun Phaser Error?
How do I know that the Evan track starts before time zero again?

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
Oh, this is too good.
I pulled up the game music in 2.0.5 and started it three times and it was clean (first three passes).
Then I opened up Audacity > About Audacity > OK... Audacious! > Play.
http://www.kozco.com/tech/clips/2014040 ... ortion.wav
Note the show is in mono and the distortion is in stereo.
The effect goes away if I put the extended track underneath the normal one and then returns when I reverse them again.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
I'm going to stop looking. Every time I turn over a rock.
I can get that exact distortion with the Mini running 10.6.8 and Audacity 2.0.3.
Just run About Audacity.
When I do that, the yellow border around both tracks vanishes. Spacebar Play will distort.
When I play the distortion and then stop, the yellow border comes back and the tones return to normal.
I'm going to bed.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
While this may not be strictly related to the crackling problem, it does directly speak to the original post. Further, I can get this distortion to happen on occasion without opening About > About Audacity.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
That may be the end of the crackling. I haven't been able to produce the crackling again through multiple days of testing. I can produce that About Audacity distortion any time at all.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
Hi, I know this thread has developed a little beyond the first post, but I've always found that when exporting a track in Audacity changes the first 5 seconds into buzzing, it is because I have multiple tracks that start at different times. Now before I export anything with multiple tracks, I select the 'blank' sections in each track and for each one I use Generate > Silence, and this solves the buzz problem.
This has always worked for me so may be worth trying, however I can't guarantee it'll work for everyone.

Re: First 5 seconds of Export buzzing
Thanks, Rory. There are a number of threads in the Mac board about crackling or buzzing and what you describe is indeed one of the possible solutions for those using multiple tracks.roryroryrory wrote:Hi, I know this thread has developed a little beyond the first post, but I've always found that when exporting a track in Audacity changes the first 5 seconds into buzzing, it is because I have multiple tracks that start at different times.
