Importing from YouTube

Help for Audacity on macOS.
Forum rules
ImageThis forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Hello, and TIA for help! I've used Audacity successfully in the past to clip short excerpts from longer videos on YouTube. I'd like to do it again, but I'm stymied at the very first step: I can't remember how I got the file from YouTube to my computer... I'd even be happy with just the audio part. This has to be something easy, since I figured it out once before, but... Thanks for help!!

This tutorial in the Manual should help you with the audio part: http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/tu ... puter.html

But Audacity is purely an audio editor so will not help you with the video clips ...
