I've downloaded and used Audacity on several computers over the years. Two weeks ago, the hard drive on my late 2011 Macbook Pro went bad. The hard drive was replaced, all of my files were saved, and my computer was upgraded to Maverick by the techs.
Since then, I've been trying to re-install Audacity 2.0.5.
It installs fine, and will record, but after I attempt to install the LAME library (which it cannot seem to find on it's own), it still cannot export an MP3 and then, I get the following error when restarting Audacity (and it freezes) "Critical Nyquist files cannot be found. Nyquist effects will not work."
At this point, the only option is to force quit Audacity.
I've tried un-installing both Audacity and LAME and starting over several times.
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you very much!

It sounds like you are trying to run Audacity directly from the DMG - that won't work. Follow the installation instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/download/mac
