Hello again
When using Audacity I can't hear the source while the recording is being made and can't hear the playback.
Only able to hear once saved as an aiff file. I want to be able to hear in Audacity so I can make recording adjustments etc.

Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Are you using a USB turntable or USB tape-deck?

Thanks - I'm using a turntable plugged into a Citronic AC-1 USB analogue converter that's plugged into a MacBook Pro laptop.

Basically your computer is trying to use the USB device for output as well as input - so you need to reset the output device to be your speakers.
