Hi,
I am new to this forum and I am using OS X v 10.8.2 and Audacity 2.0.4. I am trying to calculate the the onset of vocal reaction time of subjects using this software. I am able to play the .wav file using the audacity but I don't know how to attach the marker so that I can get the onset of vocal reaction of the subjects. Please tell me how to do it.

and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

We are not psychologists so we don't know what you are trying to measure or how you are trying to measure it.
We can help you to use Audacity if you can clearly specify the task that you are trying to achieve in layman's terms, otherwise I suggest that you use software that is designed for the task, such as DirectRT.

You can use the Overdubbing tools. Overdubbing is used in entertainment so you can, for example, listen to a rhythm track and then sing to it. Your voice is captured on a second track underneath the rhythm track. For entertainment recording, it's desired that the two be in perfect sync, but in your case it's a simple matter to measure the difference in time between the two tracks.I am able to play the .wav file using the audacity but I don't know how to attach the marker so that I can get the onset of vocal reaction of the subjects.
You should know two things. You have to adjust your computer so the play and the record sides are in synchronization, and general purpose computers will not stay adjusted perfectly forever.
