Batch spliting stereo to mono without channel mixing

Post by Delou » Tue Oct 01, 2013 5:55 am

Hello,

I am completely new to this, so apologies if that question has been answered elsewhere.
I have over 700 files recorded in stereo. I need to do sound analysis on the right channel only, and thus would like to batch process all my files so that only the right channel (in mono) is kept.
Is there anyway I can do this? I'm aware of the 'split stereo to mono' option, but that's not available for batching, and as I said I have over 700 files....

Thank you

Yes I think it's possible, but you will need a recent version of Audacity - preferably 2.0.3 or 2.0.4.
Look in "Help > About Audacity" to check which version you have.
While you're doing that I'll check to see if my idea works.

How long are the files and what exactly do you need to do to them?

Hi,

I have Audacity 2.0.3.
Files are short 1-10s at most.

I need to split them from stereo to mono then filter, equalize, normalize and export for further analysis in another software (bioacoustics research).
I've have easily made a chain that takes care of the filter-equalize-normalize process, Ideally it would also incorporate the 'split stereo to mono' step.

Thanks for the help.

Here's a plug-in that will copy the right channel to the left channel of a stereo track.
right2left.ny
(534 Bytes) Downloaded 108 times
The name of the effect is "CopyRightToLeft".
Installation instructions: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Downl ... g_Plug-ins

Put this at the start of your chain, followed by "StereoToMono", then the rest of your commands.
