Using;
Macbook Pro, OS X 10.5.8
Audacity 2.0.2

I was recording a live dj set and memory ran out on my macbook. Audacity crashed and I had to force quit.
I now cannot find the temporary files. Have went to preferences, directories, found the link for the temporary files directory but still cannot find the files.

Any ideas?

Were you recording into a saved project? If so, the audio data is in the _data folder for the project.

Either way, have you restarted Audacity? If you are lucky you will be presented with the Automatic Crash Recovery dialogue . Does that dialogue appear?
