"cannot save project"

Help for Audacity on macOS.
Forum rules
ImageThis forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".


Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

"cannot save project"

:?: hello, first time here

i get an error message that says "cannot save project"

i recorded a song from my yamaha successfully but i cannot seem to save the song and then move on to convert to mp3

i am using a new mac.

i also might mention that i have used audacity with windows xp for years

i really am confused

Try File > Export for your song and save it to your Desktop as an AIFF (you can change the folder you save the song to).

Then Audacity > Quit Audacity and make sure your are following the installation instructions correctly: http://audacityteam.org/download/mac . You should not be running Audacity from the DMG, in case that is what you are doing.
