OK - keep going with 1.3.11 - it may yet fail if you provoke it by using accented or non-English characters somewhere. Even 2.0.4 does not always fail with Unicode characters.squast wrote:Version 1.3.11 working just fine.

Audacity quits when trying to import mp3 files

Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
