Hints for migration from version 1.3.12 to 2.0.3

Hello all,
I have searched the FAQ, the Forum, and the manual and have not found any tips and / or concerns when updating from an older version of Audacity to the latest version.
I had an old MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.6.8) crash and I now have a new MacMini (running OS X 10.8.4). I have all of my old Audacity files and the Audacity app 1.3.12 backed up on Time Machine.
All of my Audacity files are in the Audacity Folder (about 3 GB in size) in the Applications folder.
Any hints, tips, or concerns that I need to be aware of before I update to Audacity 2.0.3?
Thanks Much

There is a FAQ for Windows
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/fa ... s.html#exe but Mac is usually more forgiving and flexible about installing programs.
There are no concerns that I am aware of. 2.0.3 uses the same project format as 1.3.12, so there should be no problem opening projects in 2.0.3 that were created in 1.3.12.
Your current settings from 1.3.12 will be used for 2.0.3 where that setting still exists in 2.0.3. Although you can reset your audacity.cfg settings file manually so that 2.0.3 starts out with its own "as shipped" defaults, there is no need to do so. Please see
http://manual.audacityteam.org/o/man/pr ... tml#stored .
Most Mac users would simply trash the /Applications/Audacity folder for the old version they were replacing. In your case you will need to move your AUP files and _data folders out of there, along with any exported audio files, before trashing.
Similarly if you have stored optional plug-ins in the 1.3.12 Audacity's "Plug-ins" folder, you will need to move those out before trashing 1.3.12.

Thanks Gale for the response.
Would you delete/trash the Audacity 1.3.12 app before you install the Audacity 2.0.3 app?
Thanks

I don't believe it makes any difference on Mac whether you trash 1.3.12's Audacity folder before adding 2.0.3's folder, or after.
Just be sure to remove your personal files before trashing the 1.3.12 folder.

The Applications folder is not generally a good place to store documents. Try the Documents folder instead.

The migration went without flaw. And all old files are good.
Thanks
