I'm trying to change the tempo of various parts of a song that was imported from an AAC file. I highlighted each section separately, then selected Change Tempo from the Effects menu and changed the tempo. Then I saved the file. When I played the song, none of the tempo changes had stuck. I tried this several times and can't seem to get the tempo changes to save.
I'm using Audacity 2.0.3 on a new iMac running OS X 10.8.4.
Thanks!

Re: Tempo Changes Don't Stick
Audacity does not "Save" audio files. The "Save" command (File menu > Save) saves an Audacity Project.
Apply the effect in Audacity.
Play the track to ensure that it sounds like you want it to,
then "Export" (File menu > Export) to create a new audio file. The new (exported) file will have the changes that you applied in the project.

Thanks for your reply. I was playing the track back from within Audacity, right after I changed the tempos is various parts of the track. This is when I noticed that the tempo changes I put in were not there any more.steve wrote:Audacity does not "Save" audio files. The "Save" command (File menu > Save) saves an Audacity Project.

Re: Tempo Changes Don't Stick
I think I found a better way using the Slide Time Scale/Pitch Shift. It seems to introduce fewer defects and, so far, my tempo changes have stuck.
