Unable to select anything off Edit tool bar

and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Unable to select anything off Edit tool bar
For some reason i cant delete or copy anything from my audio. I highlighted the areas I wanted to delete but none of the editing tools are working. they are all greyed out and non-selectable. HELP!!!

You probably have playback paused. Try pressing the Stop button.
