In the system preferences input side, the Soundflower does not need to be selected, but its input volume must be on maximum. So select Soundflower 2ch and make sure the input volume slider is on maximum. Then change the input back to line-in if you want to.

The Audacity output should be built-in output and the input Soundflower 2ch - but I assume you meant to write that.

Sorry, been away. Checked all that: nothing seems to make any difference. Just tried recording bit of Wagner opera being streamed live on BBC iPlayer: wave image tiny. Have the BBC put some blocking code in to stop surreptitious recording?

I've got nothing to add. This isn't an Audacity problem, unless you can record with GarageBand and get a much better level.

I suggest you try AudioHijack Pro, connect a loopback cable or similar. Does you Mac have a line-in?

Hi
I'm having exactly the same problem (and have tried all the suggestions you apparently tried)
Have you got any further?
My "solution" is to boost the signal in post with the "amplify" effect
Not much of a solution!
I have an imac 27" with Mavericks OS and Audacity 2.0.3

What problem is that, with steps 1, 2, 3... to reproduce it?
jerryob1962 wrote:Have you got any further?
I can record as loudly in Soundflower as the volume the audio is.

Open "Sound" in the System Preferences, click the Input tab, select Soundflower (2 ch) and make sure the input level is turned up.

If this is specifically about iPlayer, the audio is low volume. You may be able to download the file. In the UK you can keep the file for 30 days (or seven days after first use).
