I have just upgraded my Mac OS X from 10.7 to 10.8.2.Audacity won’t launch,and even if I didn’t upgrade my mac,Audacity wouldn’t launch on the previous set up as well.
You obviously know what the problem is,you put a note on the installation folder saying;
\
If you are a first-time user of Audacity, security settings on
OS X 10.7 or later may block Audacity being launched. To permanently
enable Audacity launch, right-click or control-click on the Audacity
application in Finder, choose “Open”, then in the dialog box that
appears, choose “Open”.
Is this really your solution? Cause that doesn’t work,and if I try to open Audacity it locks Finder and everything and I have to force quit.So your solution doesn’t work instead it creates more problems.
The Mac Gatekeeper issue described in install.txt is only the first hurdle. The second hurdle is that Audacity may freeze if you have incompatible plug-ins on your system. This is noted in the Release Notes with a workaround of disabling VST and Audio Unit (AU) effects in Audacity. See http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.3#Program_Launch .
Looking at your other post it seems that you are not having “this same problem”.
xeno is reporting that Audacity does not launch, which I assume means that it does not launch at all, whereas your other post indicates that Audacity is launching, but not properly. Rather than dealing with two different problems in the same topic, I’ll split your other posts and merge them into one topic here: Mac OS X 10.8.2 Problem loading Audacity
