Audacity startup problem

This forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.

Audacity startup problem
I am trying to open audacity on my mac 10.6.8 and it freezes and does not respond every time. I have tried to uninstall it a number of times and install it again and it reacts the same way every time. I have included the error script to this email. Please help. thanks. witzthum6

I moved this from the topic you attached it to, in case the cause of your problem is different. You can always follow the steps I indicated in that topic (see here
http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 28#p178528 ) to modify the audacity.cfg settings file. This will solve the problem in most cases.
However, assuming a VST or Audio Unit plug-in is the problem, you would not be able to run VST or AU plug-ins in Audacity after disabling them in the .cfg file.
