I have changed the cfg file and nothing still....I'm at a loss of what else to do. I have reinstalled and changed the file (cfg) to what was recommended here but audacity still won't open for me. I am running OS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro (an older one. I can't upgrade to 10.7 because it won't take it). Trying to install Audacity 2.0.3. maybe that's too new for my computer??? advice? please. Thanks.
Kathy

Re: Audacity won't open - keeps crashing
Reinstalling Audacity will not help. Audacity 2.0.3 work with OS X 10.5 and later.
Do you have Audacity installed inside an "Audacity" folder inside the Applications folder? If so, try this.
1) Create a folder called "Portable Settings" inside the Audacity folder.
2) In TextEdit, create a new file and put this in it:
3) Save this file in the Portable Settings folder, naming it "audacity.cfg"
Now try to start Audacity.

Re: Audacity won't open - keeps crashing
Is this the same problem you had a few months ago ? You did not let us know if that was solved.kathyba wrote:I have changed the cfg file and nothing still....I'm at a loss of what else to do. If Audacity does not start after following Bill's instructions, please attach the Mac crash report. Please see here for how to attach files http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... 49&t=64936 .
To be strictly accurate, it works with 10.4 or later.billw58 wrote:Audacity 2.0.3 work with OS X 10.5 and later
