Cover picture gets lost when saving to mp3

Maybe a beginner question...I try.

Using OS 10.7.4 and Audacity (from dmg), I want to modify mp3 music files.
The original files have/show already a cover picture,
when saving/exporting from Audacity, the cover picture gets lost,
i.e. the new mp3 file is with the original cover picture.

Is there a solution for this?
Do I do something wrong?
Do I miss a parameter setting?

Sorry, but Audacity discards lyrics and cover art. I'll add your vote that it should not do this, though it is accepted as something we should fix.
