sound activated recording - want to add buffer

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is any way to cause Audacity to record some time before and after the threshold is passed? I want to get a smoother recording and not sharp cutting in and out exactly when it passes the threshold.

It's a feature request not yet implemented - I'll add your vote.
