Most Macs will not play small format CDs. The really early iBooks would do it and the very large Mac Pros with standard optical drives will do it, but not the MacBooks, MacBook Pros, iMacs, Airs, and any Mac with a slot load.
If you have a Mac with a drive that will handle the smaller disk, then it should work just like a standard size CD. Where did you get it and what's on it?
