Retrieve au audio files after hard drive restoration

I use Audacity 2.3.3 with macOS Mojave 10.14.6 on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro. I did a complete hard drive restoration using Time Machine backup from an external Passport hard drive. Everything was restored including Audacity, the several project files (aup) and their associated data files. When opening a project file on the newly recovered hard drive the tracks are present for each project but clearly the audio files (au) are not with each track being blank. How do you recover the audio files from the Time Machine backup?

With Audacity 2.3.3 the actual audio is stored in a folder with the same name as the project file but with “_data” at the end. So a project named “MyProject.aup” would have an associated data folder named “MyProject_data”. The AUP file and the _data folder need to be in the same folder (directory).
I’m surprised that a “complete hard drive restoration” did not restore the _data folder into the correct places.
