MacOS 10.15.7 FFmpeg library installed but not found

The FFmpeg library is located in library/application/support/audacity/libs and I have shown audacity this location several times (in preferences/libraries). However, it consistently tells me that the library is not found. The screenshot below shows that it is there, but going to the respective folder and opening the library has no effect. Quitting and re-opening the app results in the same window as before (2nd screenshot).
Sorry for the German language, I don’t know how to change it to English.

I have spent hours googling this problem, you are my last hope! Thank you in advance!

Have you gone to that location in the Finder to see if the FFmpeg libraries are really there?

Yes, the library is definitively there.

I should add that installing the library was smooth and audacity imports files as expected on an earlier iMac model (late 2016) running with Mojave (10.14.6).

Please try this:

  1. Quit Audacity completely.
  2. Launch Audacity
  3. “Help menu > Diagnostics > Show Log”
  4. Save the log somewhere convenient (such as your Desktop)
  5. Attach the log file to your reply (see: https://forum.audacityteam.org/t/how-to-attach-files-to-forum-posts/24026/1)
