Troubles with Audacity and new Macbook Pro and High Sierra.

On my late 2014 Mac Mini, the forward slash character “/” is the file path separator.
“08/Jun/20” means that “20” is in the folder “Jun” which is in the folder “08”.

Did you follow these instructions to install Audacity? Audacity ® | Download for Mac OS
(scroll down the page to “Installation of Audacity” and dismiss the prompt to download Audacity again)

You have a lot of the symptoms of not having actually installed Audacity.

The newer systems make this a lot more obvious. Double click the .dmg file.

Grab the Audacity graphic and drag it to the Application graphic. It goes to work in the background shuffling the support files around making the program “official.” Then you can drag the app to the dock and it should stay there.

I’m trying to remember how we used to do it before that graphic. We had to dig down into the Mac system and it was prone to errors because there were two paths that looked the same but only one worked.

I can have more than one project open at the same time in separate windows

That’s not the best idea. It’s not as stable as working entirely inside one Project. You could get into trouble if you closed, saved, or exported in the wrong order. I forget the spells, but they’re not good spells. “Audacity froze up and now my show won’t open!!”

Slash marks have bad juju, too. Today is 2021-06-08, not 6/8/21.
