Bass won't register directly

Post by TheMadMick » Tue Jan 05, 2021 9:11 pm

I've used Audacity 2.4.2 with OSX 10.14.6 and it's always worked just fine. This afternoon I recorded myself on voice/guitar and flute through my Xneyx 802 mixer via USB without a hitch. I then went to put down another track with my bass. It registers on the mixer, it shows on the computer sound input but lays nothing down in Audacity. Not through a direct connection through the line input or through a balanced mic input on a DI box. Everything else seems to work. I then recorded by putting a mic to my practice amp but the tone isn't as good. I was able to record bass last time I multi tracked with the bass through the line input on the mixer. All that's different is I've changed the battery on my Rockbass Corvette 4A.

Anyone know what's going on?

A shot in the dark from a non-Mac guy. Is the bass on channel 3? Do you have Audacity set to record in mono or stereo? Check your Device Selection Toolbar: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/device_toolbar.html

Sorry for my laggardly response to a helpful comment.

I'll give that a try.

Thanx.
