Help for Audacity on macOS.
Forum rules
ImageThis forum is for Audacity on macOS 10.4 and later.
Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Troubleshooting Help

I am a new user.

Hardware:
Scarlett 2i2 3rd Gen Audio Interface
Samson C01 Condenser Microphone
Mac Computer

Software:
Audacity

Problem - getting error message "Error opening recording device. Error code: -9997 Invalid sample rate"

My preferences for Audacity seem to be on 48k which is the same for my Scarlett settings.

Any recommendations for a new user to clear this hurdle?

Which version? Audacity (upper left) > About.
Does audacity have permission to use your microphone ?
This is the Sierra OS. It didn't ask for permissions. I'm running High Sierra (later) and it doesn't.

Which MAC? IMAC 21.5 inch late 2012 running Catalina OS

Where do I check if audacity has permission to use the microphone?
