Can't get sound through headphones

Help for Audacity on macOS.

Can't get sound through headphones

I use a Mac laptop with the Catalina OS, and Audacity version 2.3.3

My issue is that sound on Audacity isn't coming through headphones. I can only hear what I'm working on through the computer's speakers. I've tried several different headphones and earbuds but the problem persists. Is there some setting I need to change, either in Audacity or on my computer?

No, the headphones are not wireless.
