my first day with audacity

Post by sherrynadra » Wed Aug 26, 2020 6:40 pm

I made a simple recording. I pressed "stop." I listened to it. Now I want to start a second track. But when I hit the record button again, it goes to the same track, as though continuing the first track instead of starting a new one. What am I doing wrong?

"Shift + Record button"
or
"Shift + R"

Thank you. I knew it would be something stupidly simple!

If you stack them like that, Audacity will try to play them all at the same time. You can stop that with the MUTE and SOLO buttons.

If you File > Export a sound file, Audacity will try to smash all the tracks into one show. You can stop that with File > Export Selected and pick the ones you want.
