Hi.
I just joined this forum for the exact same thing but when I went to the terminal panel I got this?
/Applications/Audacity.app/Contents/MacOS/Audacity;
The default interactive shell is now zsh.
To update your account to use zsh, please run `chsh -s /bin/zsh`.
For more details, please visit https://support.apple.com/kb/HT208050.
What does this mean?
Catalina microphone issue with Audacity

Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity
If you update to Audacity 2.4.2 you do not need to do anything in the Terminal. (https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/)
Regarding "zsh", that's just informing you that macOS is dropping support for the "bash shell" and replacing it with the "zsh shell". It's not relevant to Audacity.

Any ideas that can help me then?
I'm running a soundcraft Signature 22 mixer into Mojave 10.5, Audacity can see it on drop down but will not play any sound. When I use a focusrite mixer, it can see that and play the sound.
Quicktime player can see the soundcraft mixer and can record sound from it, so the mac is seeing the and hearing the sound from the mixer, so it's not the mixer.
Incidently, the same thing happens with audacity on my macbook pro, running the same IOS
Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity
I've split your question from the thread where you posted as this clearly has nothing to do with Catalina (the subject of the original topic).
Please describe exactly what you are doing. It is not clear whether you have the Soundcraft mixer and the "focusrite mixer" connected at the same time, or what exact settings you have in the Device Toolbar, or whether you are reporting a playback issue only, or whether the problem affects recording also, or how the equipment is set up, or which USB socket you are using, or how you are routing the USB to your headphones....
You will need to give us a clear and detailed picture of what your setup is, how it is configured, what you are trying to do, and what is actually happening.
What is a "focusrite mixer"? I thought that focusrite only made audio interfaces, not mixers.
So are you asking about playback or recording?
What is "Mojave 10.5"?
"Mojave" is the code name for macOS 10.14.

Re: Catalina microphone issue with Audacity
Perhaps pages 25 and 33 of the Soundcraft user manual will help.
