I have a MacBook running El Capitan with a Hercules Starlight DJ controller and Virtual DJ and want to capture the output but Audacity doesn't grab any sound. It does recognise the controller as a sound device so I'm wondering if I'd need any additional cables to route the audio differently?
The DJ console uses 3.5mm jack's.

Re: Recording audio from Hercules Starlight DJ controller
The first step is to go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Is the controller in the list there? If you play sound with the controller does the audio meter bounce? See the first illustration on this wiki page.
