If I want to remove a section from a track, how can I enter an “in” and an “out” mark without holding the mouse down and dragging all the way through the track to the preferred out? I’ve never been able to figure that out. Thanks in advance.

Can insert splits at the in & out points,
then double click on the now isolated middle section to select it, then hit delete.

BINGO. Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. Wish I’d asked years ago.
