No Reading on ACX Check

Post by kmarler » Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:23 am

Hello All,

I've never had a problem with the 'ACX Check' tool until today.

When I try to run it, it never gives me the readings and gives me the following message...

I'm running the latest version of Audacity [2.4.1]. Here's my operating system ...

The track is a hair over 24 minutes. I feel like I've done 'ACX Checks' on tracks this long before and didn't have an issue.

Any help is appreciated.

As always, thanks !

There is a brand-new, shiny ACX-Check. Trash your old one and get the new one.

Koz,

Some heros don't wear capes. Thank you !

Just to stick a fork in this one and say it's done, is the new and shiny one supposed to look like this ? ...

It looks like they dropped all of the other mumbo jumbo stats and the really rewarding line where it said, "the clip passed ACX Requirements". It was always so reassuring. Haha !

It was always so reassuring.
Maybe too reassuring. Since the testing was not produced by ACX, the best we can actually do is "The clip apparently passes ACX, in our opinion." A good deal less fuzzy-warm. So we left it out.

The other readings were not reflected in actual ACX specifications. While the readings were handy in some conditions, they took a while to generate. Even though the new version produces values and measurements very close to the older tool (they both work from ACX publications), it doesn't work the same way.

Your submission still has to make it past ACX's own technical testing as well as their Human Quality Control. Somebody is going to listen to it and you still have to be good at reading out loud. It's still true that they will accept a short reading for evaluation before you submit a whole book.
