audacity 2.4.1 not recording anything

audacity 2.4.1 not recording anything
Have Catalina 10.15.5 Cannot get anything to record thru mic or system audio. Went to sys prefs/ privacy security and mic is on for Audacity. Checked my sound settings and all is fine. Settings for input in Audacity are set correctly. Where do I go from here?

Is your mic working at all? Can you record sound in other programs, such as Quicktime?
