MacOS Catalina, Audacity 2.4.1 (But I've noticed this on 2.3.x as well.)
When I'm exporting a file (usually to MP3, but I don't think it matters what the format is) I often want to copy the track title after typing it into the export dialog box. So I select the track title in the export dialog box and hit Command+C, which is of course the OS-wide shortcut for "copy".
Expected behavior: the text is copied to the clipboard.
Actual behavior: the dialog box closes.
Perhaps for some reason Audacity takes Command+C in this context to mean "close dialog box." Or maybe it's purely a bug.
Using Edit > Copy from the menu doesn't work since that option is grayed out.
Command+C is a basic Mac thing that no app should mess around with. It's also hard-wired into me by decades of use to the point where I'll try to export again and make exactly the same "mistake" of using Command+C. Could we get that looked into, please?

Re: Bug report: Command+C closing dialog box
While I agree that the Cut, Copy and Paste commands should be available when a Save/Export dialog is on screen, I can't reproduce this. When I use Command+C to try to copy the name of the about-to-be-exported file, I get a beep.
Right-click > Copy does work, as does Cut and Paste.
This is a known bug. I'll lobby the developers to give it some love.

Re: Bug report: Command+C closing dialog box
Hi, Bill.
It's not copying the name of the file that's the problem, but copying the track title from the metadata dialog box. Try the following.
With any file, Export (as MP3).
Hit Save.
Enter the metadata.
Hit Ctl+C to copy the Track Title.
Invariably the dialog box closes. I know other people have experienced the same issue, so it's not something that's confined to my setup.

Thanks for the clarification.
This has been fixed in version 2.4.2, which is due out shortly.
