Hello,
I am a layman musican in a group of with sets of differnt instruments. Due to the corona deseas, we are not in the position to play together and rehersal as normal. The Idea is: Each of us plays its instrument at home according to the given notes (sheet music) and exactly in the given tempo. The result could be files in the format of *.mp3 or *.wav, etc. Finally there would be i.e. one file of an alto saxophone, one file of tenor saxophone, and files of soprano and baritone saxophone, played by different players, but containing the same piece of music. Is there any possibility to bring these files together to get finally saxophone quartet file? My system: OSX 10.13.6 ; Audacity 2.3.2 - Many thanks in advance - Ullrich

You are asking a huge question, but I'll try to steer you in the right direction.

Each player must understand how to overdub. See this page in the manual.

Each player would create a rhythm track, then play their part while listening to the rhythm track - this is called overdubbing.

Each player would then select their finished track and export selected audio. They could export as WAV or AIF for best quality, or as MP3 for smaller files but at lower quality. Only use MP3 if emailing WAV files is not practical.

Each player would then send their exported track (their part) to the one who is compiling and mixing them.
