Hello everyone,

I'm currently using Audacity to edit wav files on my pc. I'm considering upgrading to a new macbook pro and was wondering if the record issue affects the ability to edit wav files. Currently, I import the files from an sd card reader..I'm hoping this will work with a new mbp. Thanks in advance.

I have Audacity 2.3.3 and macOS Catalina 10.15.4 such a problem. The vst nectar 3 plugin starts and works, but does not show factory presets and does not allow you to save your own presets. The dialog box is empty. I checked the plugin in another editor, everything was ok. I want to continue using Audasity. Please help resolve the issue

Previously I have posted to macOS about change tempo not working. Now I am posting to macOS Catalina which I am on. I discovered that Paulstretch and Sliding stretch would work to accomplish tempo change. The changed sections sound like they are under water, however.

"Paulstretch" is not supposed to sound natural. It's supposed to sound like a weird audio smudge.

Change Tempo has a "high quality" option. In most (but not all) cases, this sounds more natural when enabled. Change Tempo and Change Pitch are not exact effects. They can usually produce natural sounding results for small to moderate stretch amounts, but become increasingly artificial with more extreme stretching.

Steve, thanks for the info about Paulstretch. I have just downloaded 2.4.1 today and am pleased to report that change tempo now works on Catalina! There is one thing I would like to do if possible: can I get the waveform to reveal where change tempos have been applied? Change tempo stretches out the waveform so it hard to keep track of the position. Sometimes I want to start a new tempo at the end of a previous change and it is hard to do.

After applying Change Tempo, the processed audio is still selected. This provides a number of options:

You can label the selected region ("Command + B" https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/cre ... abels.html).

You can "shift + click -> drag" one or other end of the selection, retaining the position of the other end.

You can split the selected region so it becomes a separate audio clip (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/edi ... html#split)

You can extend the selection (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/aud ... ction-tips)

You can split the selection to a new track (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/edi ... #split_new)

etc.

WELL IT TURNS OUT THERE'S A BUTTON ON THE BACK OF THE FOCUSRITE THAT SAYS 48V THAT HAS TO BE PUSHED IN. I PUSHED IT IN AND NOW IT WORKS. CAN'T BELIEVE THE TIME I WASTED. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Hi Steve and thank you for this.

I was wondering why I never heard back. I expected to receive an email that you replied. My apologies.

I'm not on Catalina, I went back to Mojave 10.14.6 and I was referring to Audacity 2.3.3 which no longer has equalization in Effects. I use an equalization number that Koz was good enough to give me and couldn't figure out what to use in its place. I just stopped using equalization.

HOWEVER - As of today that's a moot point. I have a bigger problem. I connected a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 3rd generation to my Mac running Mojave 10.14.6
Connected to the Scarlett is a Synco D2 mic.

When I turn up the gain while speaking into the microphone, the dial is supposed to turn green and it is not.
Nor is audacity recording although it is set as the input and output.
I am hearing the o/p in my headphones.

Focusrite is connected to Mac via a dongle. I initially had it in a rectangular adapter but thought that might be a problem.

I checked Apple sound and security preferences.

I'm stumped.

Can you help?

Many thanks,
Bonnie.

Are you referring to a green light on the Scarlett?
If so, check that "phantom power" is enabled on the Scarlett. The Synco D2 requires 48v phantom power which is passed to it via the 3-pin mic connector.
