Split Recording For Two CD's.

I am an inexperience user of Audacity 2.2.2 on my Mac 10.13.6. I have recorded a requiem but I cannot edit it from 84 minutes down to 80 minutes to burn to one cd so I need to split it to burn to two cd's. From the tutorial, I do not understand how to move the second half of the recording underneath the first so that I can burn them separately on two cd's. Can anyone help please?

You don't need to do that. There's an easier way.

1) Locate a good point to split the track
2) Click (single click) on the track at that point so that the play cursor (thin vertical line) is at the exact place (left and right cursor buttons may be used to nudge the cursor left / right)
3) "Edit menu > Clip Boundaries > Split" (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/edi ... aries.html)
4) Double click in the track (on the waveform) within the first section of the track
5) "File menu > Export > Export Selected Audio" (to export the first part)
6) Double click in the track within the second section of the track
7) "File menu > Export > Export Selected Audio" (to export the second part)

or you can use labels and Export Multiple

1) Drop a label at the beginning of the recording - with the name you want for part-1
2) Locate a good point to split the track
3) Drop a label there - with the name you want for part-2
4) File > Export > Export Multiple

This will export two audio files for you named as in 1 & 3 and with the file extension according to the format you chose in step 4

And don't fall in love with 80 minutes, either. That's under ideal, absolutely perfect conditions (the even number makes good advertising). Plan on more like 79 or 78 minutes.

An excellent point Koz - bur personally I'd plan to keep below the original Red Book Standard for CDs of 74 minutes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_D ... aying_time

Thank you all for the replies. I will have a go and experiment with other recordings and try out the different suggestions. Thank you all again. It is much appreciated.
