Recently updated, unable to record anything

Please state which version of macOS you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Audacity menu > About Audacity".

Recently updated, unable to record anything
I have recently update audacity, previous version worked fine, but now nothing is recording. My input devices, audio interfaces, are being detected by the software but when I hit record and test the mic, nothing is recorded. I even have tried the internal mic on the mac and still nothing. Can anyone help me here, what am I missing?

Are you using macOS 10.14 (Mojave)? If so, go to System Preferences > Security and Privacy and make sure Audacity has permission to use the built-in microphone.

I am having the same problem with Mojave 10.14 and Audacity 2.3. Audacity says that it recognizes my microphone, I have updated my privacy settings to allow Audacity access to my mic but it still does not record.

As it turns out the problem was with my microphone. It doesn't work on anything. I've got a new one on order so hopefully that will alleviate the problem.
