I have uninstalled and reinstalled Audacity and am unable to avoid getting this error message continually:
Audacity is already running
Two copies of audacity are running

I’m having the same problem. I installed version 2.2.2, then did a complete uninstall, then downloaded and installed it again. Still getting the message that the system has detected that Audacity is already running and won’t let me open it. I’m stuck and can’t complete my project.
Fix is not working. Mac OS 10.14.2
