Averaging audio selections - Tool request - Windows 10

I am using version 2.2.2.

What I want to do, is select for example 2 seconds of audio and average the waveform of that selected 2 seconds into 2 seconds of another tracks waveform. Does this tool exist?

For example. I have a master track that is strictly voice audio. I am splicing together different takes from a hand held mic. So, the ambient noise and tonality shifts in between edits. I have an acceptable ambient track that I want to use to blend between to mask this transition.

I have always done this simply by inversely mixing down the main track and the ambient track, with the peak of the ambient at exactly the cut between the main track. However, If I could select a section of ambient track, copy that to clipboard, then select a section of main track, and then select an effect or something that DID that, plus actually averaged the wave form… that would be tight. Does this tool exist?

I tried searching the documentation and the forums, and I don’t know if this is a thing that actually exists and I just cant find it.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like crossfade clips is what you are looking for.
