Recording

Audacity 2.1.1 windows 8.1. If I record a guitar track and then record a second track, bass, I get both the first and second tracks together on that second recording track.

Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording.

Make sure [_]Playthrough is not selected, [X]Overdub and [X]Always New Track both are.

If you like to record on-line content, those settings will not work in overdubbing. You have to record from a real device such as your USB interface or microphone. Audacity/Windows records on-line content by making up a fake device such as Stereo-Mix.

I sent a question an hour ago but already found solution from post above.

When you download Audacity 2.2.1 it comes with “Always New Track” not selected in default. And that causing for newbie real pain to figure out what’s going on while recording multiple tracks, especially, when in previous version this problem did not exist. But thanks a lot for you forum, it is so helpful.
