I want to record audio playing on my PC. I have the Windows WASAPI loopback thing selected, in my recording devices I have "Stereo Mix" selected as my default device, it is enabled and not greyed out, and the sound is otherwise working.
When I click on the record button in Audacity (2.0.5) I get this error message: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."
How do I fix this?

Audacity can return that error if either your recording service or your playback service is in trouble.

Audacity 2.0.5 is pretty old. One of the other elves may ask you to upgrade to 2.2.1.

Thank you for the reply. The solution was to simply restart my PC after I enabled the Stereo Mix recording device.
