Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at
https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the
1.2.x and
1.3.x forums.

Hello and Happy Holidays to all:
I am brand new first day here! I am Neenah I just started taking the Deadmau5 MasterClass to learn EDM that I have always found fascinating. I just downloaded and installed Audacity 2.2.1 on my Windows 7. I want to get started but honestly lost. They say importing audio files to use to build my music. However, can anyone suggest where there are free or reasonable priced audio clips compatible with Audacity that I can download? I would appreciate if you can post the link to me?? I don't have any equipment to make the audio clip myself I am literally starting out with just the PC and the software and that is literally it. Thank you all and take care! Neenah

Audacity is most often used for production on work made by the user. AudioBook reading, musical performances, etc. I suspect the course is probably assuming you already have works you bought (or performed) if you're interested in this kind of production.
I get most of my music from iTunes download at whatever price is quoted.

Audacity can open up a lot of different found files, but if you find one that doesn't work, you may need to install the FFMpeg plug-in. That expands Audacity's dance card to a large number of different files.
