Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help menu > About Audacity")
How much free space is there on your C: drive?
Does the problem happen with all files, or only files which have a dot in the name? (it is generally safest to avoid using dots in file names, apart from the dot before the file extension. Safe characters for file names are letters, numbers, hyphen "-" and underscore "_". Spaces 'should' be safe, though some very old programs may complain.)
