Freezing Y axis Display?

Post by EricLeonard » Mon Jul 17, 2017 5:26 pm

Is there a way to freeze the X/Y axis limits on the audio waveform display so that automatic changes no longer occur? These axis limits seem to get reset much of the time after I add an effect. This makes it much more difficult for me to tell what the effect did to the small portion of the waveform that I was previously zeroed in on.
Windows 10, Audacity 2.1.3.

Sorry but I don't recognise the problem that you are trying to describe. Could you give step by step instructions to reproduce the problem.

Do you want the timeline to stop shifting time (left to right) by itself?

Change the timeline so it doesn't shift by itself:
-- Edit > Preferences > Tracks > [_] Update display while playing. (de-select)
Note: Update Display is good during recording.
