Thin, distorted recordings

Post by Bedub » Sat Jul 08, 2017 2:03 pm

I am new to Audacity (2.1.3). I have a newer laptop with Windows 10, a new condenser microphone running through a Focusrite 2i2. Before and during recordings everything sounds great in my headphones. But when I play back, the recording is really thin and distorted. It's unusable. Why? Any hep would be appreciated...thanks.

Rich questions are good.
new condenser microphone
What kind?
Before and during recordings
Of what? Windows has voice processing that hates music.

"Thin, distorted recordings" does sounds like Window's "enhancements" which need to be turned-off for a high-fidelity recording , see ... http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_ ... _tunnel.3F
