Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

time line options
Hello -- I am sort of (re) new to audacity .... is there a way to change the timeline when recording to move slowe, IE in increments of say 2 seconds -- the default is 1 second now - thanks

Please, always tell us what version of Audacity you are using (all three numbers, see the pink panel at the top of the page).
What version of Windows are you on now? Then we could update your profile.
There is Transcription Toolbar: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tran ... olbar.html for a constant speed change.
There is scrubbing and seeking http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/scru ... eking.html which give different ways of changing the playback speed variably over time.
And there are Time Tracks http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/time_tracks.html which let you predefine an exact variable time warp.
All these methods affect pitch as well as speed.
