This forum is for Audacity on Windows.
Please state which version of Windows you are using,
and the exact three-section version number of Audacity from "Help menu > About Audacity".
Audacity 1.2.x and 1.3.x are obsolete and no longer supported. If you still have those versions, please upgrade at https://www.audacityteam.org/download/.
The old forums for those versions are now closed, but you can still read the archives of the 1.2.x and 1.3.x forums.

Software Playthrough
The situation is that when playing back a track unless the Software Playthrough(SP) is checked there is no audio. There would be sound coming through the headphones just fine prior to upgrading to 2.1.2. All other players work just fine. Is this a bug? Is there a fix?

In Audacity supplied by us http://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows software playthrough is not required for playing an already recorded track, only for listening to what is being recorded while recording takes place.
